A 57-year-old Gasparillo man was arrested on Monday and charged with sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.

The incident allegedly occurred in May in the living room of the girl’s home, where she was asleep on the couch.

She told police she was awakened by the suspect sexually assaulting her. The matter was reported by the child’s mother to the Southern Division Child Protection Unit (CPU).

The suspect was arrested by the special operations response team (SORT) and investigations were led by acting Sgt Rohan of the southern CPU.

The man was expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate on Tuesday.
